The default mobile menu that came with your Shopify theme is basic — a flat list of categories, search hidden, account link buried somewhere. It worked when your catalog was small. A flat list of categories doesn't work when you have sub-categories and sub-sub-categories. Visitors can't drill down — everything is a top-level choice, or categories are so deep in the list they scroll past them.
